Technical Campus Open House Includes Car Meet, High Tech Equipment, Demos for All Ages

March 25, 2022 Fast cars. Advanced robotics. Lifesaving technology and simulators. Scholarship opportunities. Visitors will find these and more at the next Collin College Technical Campus Open House, Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Organizers have planned a revolving line-up of custom, classic, and muscle cars in and around the campuss Automotive Technology and Collision Technology building. Arcing and gas safety demonstration and an energy education trailer sponsored by CoServ will be on-site. Attendees will also see two-story small home being built in the colleges carpentry lab.

Visitors can watch automated conveyor belt systems in operation, Universal Robots in action, student-made recycled material mini-car races, and the biomedical equipment repair lab. A PHI Air Medical helicopter and an Allen Fire Department fire truck are scheduled to make an appearance if weather and scheduling permit.

Faculty and student-led demonstrations are planned throughout the day, including carpentry, welding, virtual reality spray painting simulators, lifelike health science manikins, land surveying, and more. Scholarship information and assistance with admissions, advising, and financial aid will be available.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about the colleges new Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management degree. That program is accepting applications now.

The campuss Cougar Caf and Starbucks will be open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for visitors. The bookstore will be open throughout the event. Promotional items will be available from many of the Technical Campus programs while supplies last.

 

The Technical Campus is located at 2550 Bending Branch Way in Allen. Opened in September of 2020, the Collin College Technical Campus provides workforce education programs designed to get graduates employed in high-skill, high-demand, high-wage careers.
