Collin College recently hosted a signing ceremony at its Technical Campus as part of an expanded partnership with Toyota Motor North America and the Toyota Technician Education Network (T-TEN) program.
The T-TEN program is an industry-leading automotive technician training program that develops factory-certified technicians in automotive dealerships across the U.S. Since the program’s inception in 1986, more than 13,000 certified technicians have been placed in the service departments of nearly 1,500 dealerships.
Collin College students participating in the program will have an opportunity to earn technician training certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Toyota, and Lexus, and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Automotive Technology – Toyota T-TEN Track from the college.
“This program gives students an opportunity to receive exceptional training in a high-demand field,” said Dr. Neil Matkin, district president of Collin College. “Students will gain mentoring and internship opportunities to better prepare them in their careers as Toyota and Lexus certified technicians.”
Collin College partnered with Toyota at the start of the Automotive Technology program at the Technical Campus and was selected as one of the pilots for Toyota’s Technical Education College Support (TECS) Elite program during the 2020-21 academic year.
“This partnership is a huge win for Toyota, Collin College, and all of North Texas,” said Holly Dieterle, Toyota general manager of quality division. “Even in the early stages of development, Collin has contributed greatly to the processes we are now implementing in the TECS Elite program nationwide, and they are an inspiration to the T-TEN Instructor Community nationwide.”
There are currently 37 locations offering the T-TEN program throughout the nation. For more information about the T-TEN program, visit https://www.t-ten.com.
