Solar Eclipse Watch Parties Offered At Collin College Campuses

Join Collin College students and staff for an eclipse watching party at a campus near you from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. Safe viewing events featuring specialized telescopes and solar glasses will be offered at Frisco Campus, McKinney Campus, Plano Campus, and Wylie Campus. All of the watch parties are free, and the public is encouraged to attend.

Roughly 80% of the sun will be obscured for North Texas residents during the Oct. 14 annular partial solar eclipse, providing an exceptional opportunity to view a stunning solar event. Looking at the sun without proper equipment can damage viewers’ vision. Collin College professors will be on hand to assist eventgoers with safe viewing and explain how the partial eclipse is formed. 

Eclipse watching parties will be offered at: Frisco Campus, 9700 Wade Boulevard in Frisco, in the campus quad; McKinney Campus, 2200 W. University Drive in McKinney, outside the new Andrea-Mennen Welcome Center; Plano Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, at the east main entrance; and Wylie Campus, 391 Country Club Road in Wylie, in the outdoor commons area.
